Ein Tag in der Wüste …

… ist ein absolutes MUSS bei jedem Dubai-Besuch!

Daher hatte ich bereits im Vorfeld meiner Reise aus Deutschland eine Wüsten-Safari gebucht und diese gestern angetreten.

Doch was mich 6 Stunden lang erwartete, hat jegliche Vorstellungen übertroffen.

Direkt am Hotel von einem einheimischen Guide in einem modernen, riesigen SUV abgeholt, ging die Fahrt ins Emirat Sharjah. Von dort aus heizte der Fahrer über die eindrucksvollen, von der gerade untergehenden arabischen Sonne in ein tolles rot-orange schimmerndes Licht getauchten Dünen der größten Sandwüste der Welt. Wow!

Nach einem Foto-Stop kamen wir etwa 30 Minuten später in einem Wüstencamp an, wo es ein wirklich leckeres Buffet mit offenem Grill gab, einer Shisha-Ecke, einer orientalischen Tanz-Unterhaltung und Kamelreiten musste ich natürlich auch mal ausprobieren. Klar, wo passt das besser als in Dubai 😉 Toll, aber eine sehr, sehr wackelige Angelegenheit…

Nach einer weiteren Dattel und einem allerletzten Zug der leckeren Anis-Shisha chauffierte mich der Tourguide wieder bis vors Hotel.

Ein Rudum-Sorglos Paket, das man nie mehr vergessen wird! Vor allem auch die Mengen Sand, die ich abends trotz geschlossener Schuhe mit aufs Zimmer brachte… 😉

Morgen steht ein Hotelwechel an und die Erwartungen an das gebuchte Hotel Kempinski Ajman sind hoch. Dort werde ich bis nächsten Donnersatag bleiben. Mal sehen, ob der Rest der Reise genauso schön wird, wie bisher.

A day in the desert…

… is an absolute MUST when you stay in Dubai.
So I have already booked it in advance from Germany and yesterday I did the trip.

But what was happening for 6 hours has surpassed all my expectations.

Directly picked up at the hotel by a local guide in a modern, huge SUVs the trip went to the Emirate of Sharjah. From there, the driver rushed on the impressive dunes of the largest sand desert in the world, turned into a great red-orange shimmering light of the just setting down Arabic sun. Wow!
After a photo-stop, about 30 minutes later we arrived at the desert camp. There was a great open barbecue-buffet, a shisha-corner, an Oriental dance entertainment and the possibility to ride on a camel. I had to try it, of course. Because where can you do it more authentic than in Dubai 😉 It’s nice, but it’s a very, very shaky thing..! 
After another date and a last breath of the delicious anise shisha, tour guide Jacob chauffeured me back to the hotel. 
A perfect trip, you will never forget! Especially the tons of sand I brought up to the hotel room, even I have worn closed shoes… 😉
Tomorrow I’ll change the hotel and my expectations are high in the chosen Hotel Kempinski Ajman, where I will stay until next Thursday. Let’s see, if the second half of the journey will be as beautiful as the first.

Dubai, du wunderschöne…

… und vielseitige Stadt der Superlative!

Ich bin jetzt seit 7 Tagen in dieser faszinierenden Metropole und entgegen vieler Meinungen, dass „ein paar Tage“ in Dubai völlig ausreichten, könnte ich es hier wohl ewig aushalten.

Man entdeckt jeden Tag aufs Neue völlig unterschiedliche Facetten, die einem den Atem stocken lassen. Gestern zum Beispiel, als ich am Jumeirah Beach, direkt neben dem berühmten Burj-Al Arab einen traumhaften Sonnenuntergang erleben durfte. Einfach unvergesslich!

Zum Glück liegt noch gut die Hälfte meiner Zeit in den Emiraten vor mir, sodass ich jeden noch so heißen Atemzug (heute z. B. knapp 50 Grad) ganz bewusst und überglücklich genießen werde.

Aber jetzt heißt es erstmal abkühlen in der gut klimatisierten Mall of the Emirates, bevor es morgen zu einer Wüsten-Safari geht.

Dubai, the beautiful…

… and various city of superlatives!

I’m in this fascinating main city for 7 days now and against several meanings that „a few days“ in Dubai is absolutely enough, I could stay here for a loooong time.

You can discover different facets every day, which let you stop breathing. Yesterday, for example, as I went to Jumeirah beach, I was able to see such a breathtaking and amazing sunset, close to the famous Burj-Al Arab. Definitely unforgettable!

Fortunately the second half of my journey to the United Arab Emirates is still to come, that I will enjoy every single breath happily, even if the temperature outside is as hot as today (almost 50 degrees Celsius).

But now, it’s time to cool down in the well air-conditioned Mall of the Emirates – tomorrow I’ll join a desert-safari.

Off to Dubai :)

Die zweite Reise des Jahres steht an, genauso wie ich gerade in der Schlange am Gate H24 des Münchner Flughafens.
Sobald das Boarding startet, beginnt für mich eine Reise, die ich bereits seit vielen Jahren realisieren wollte. Nun hat es endlich geklappt und die kommenden 16 Tage werden in der heißen Sonne der Vereinigten Arabischen Emirate verbracht.
Das wohl berühmteste Hotel, das höchste Gebäude der Welt, die größte Shoppingmall unseres Planeten. Die Liste der Rekorde Dubais ließe sich wohl nahezu beliebig fortführen.
Aber natürlich wird auch die Hauptstadt Abu Dhabi besucht. Die dort ansässige Formel-1 Rennstrecke und die größte Moschee der gesamten Emirate werden sicherlich ebenfalls besondere Erlebnisse offenbaren.

„LH 638 is ready for boarding“ heißt es aus den Lautsprechern.
Es geht los.
Dubai, ich freue mich auf Dich!

The second trip of the year begins and I´m standing in line on gate H24 at Munich Airport.
When boarding starts, at the same time a journey starts, I wanted to realize for many years. Finally it became the truth and the next 16 days will be spent in the hot sun of the United Arab Emirates.
The probably most famous hotel, the tallest building in the world, the largest shopping mall on the planet. The records of Dubai could probably be continued almost without limit.
But the capital Abu Dhabi will be visited as well, of course. The resident Formula 1 racetrack and the largest mosque in the entire Emirates will certainly reveal a special experience as well.

„LH 638 is ready for boarding“ is the sound out of the speakers.
The journey begins.
